The knurled gripping area, or shaft, of the Pile Driver is a full 50mm thick, or approximately 2″, putting much more emphasis on gripping the bar during each lift. Additionally, when performing heavy bench presses or shoulder presses, the user will instantly notice improved weight distribution of the bar throughout a larger area of the hand resulting in increased comfort and performance. The additional steel used to beef up the diameter of the Pile Driver increases its overall weight to 65 lbs., which is 20 lbs. more than most 7′ long Olympic bars.
